Weatherization Assistance Program through SEVCA

What is the SEVCA Weatherization Program?

Low income Vermonters who own or rent a house, apartment, or mobile home may qualify for weatherization services at no cost. A trained SEVCA crew can reduce air infiltration by using high-tech air sealing methods and insulate attics and walls with blown-in non-toxic cellulose insulation. They can also clean and tune heating systems for better efficiency and address certain health and safety issues while minimizing fuel costs. They install electrical measures to save on your electrical bills.

Why Weatherize?

If any of the situations below are affecting you in your home, you could benefit from SEVCA‘s weatherization program.

  • Are you spending a lot on fuel to heat your home?
  • Does your home have drafty areas?
  • Is your heating system running efficiently?
  • Are you wearing extra clothing around the house during winter?
  • Do you or your children notice cold floors or walls?
  • Do you have mildew or moisture problems?

Weatherizing your home will help keep you and your family comfortable year round, no matter what the weather. Save money on fuel bills every winter for years to come.

Who Qualifies?

SEVCA Weatherization is free to residents of Windham and Windsor counties who meet the income guidelines. You can participate whether you own or rent.

What do I have to do?

Call SEVCA at 1-800-464-9951 to request information. If you need help applying, SEVCA’s client representative will be glad to assist you.

Then What?

After SEVCA has determined your eligibility, an energy auditor will make an appointment to perform an audit at your home. At that time, various testing will be done and the auditor will decide which energy saving measures are appropriate for your home. As soon as possible, an experienced SEVCA crew team will be dispatched to perform the work.
