Locally Yours, Farm Produce Shares

Locally Yours is a program that helps give access to fresh, locally grown produce to area seniors. There is no income restriction; the program is available to all Bugbee members! (And membership is free for people age 60 and over.) If you’d like to participate, come on by the front desk or give us a call – it’s that easy.

What is it?

This program helps seniors get locally grown produce, benefitting both senior nutrition needs and our local farms. “CSA” is Community Supported Agriculture, and it means people can purchase shares of a farm’s harvest in advance. This year, Senior Solutions has purchased six weekly shares of Sunrise Farm‘s harvest for Bugbee seniors, lasting until the end of October. Each share includes 10 items but you can take fewer if you don’t need that much. Thank you to both Senior Solutions and Sunrise Farm for making this possible!

How does it work?

It’s as easy as swinging by the front desk! Or call us, 802-295-9068. Produce will be delivered mid-week to the Center, and we can put you on a call list to let you know when deliveries are expected. You’ll get free coupons to redeem for veggies, up to 10 items per week! No problem if you only need one or two: we encourage you to just take as much as you think you can eat, and it helps share the crops with more people.

When you’re picking items up from Locally Yours, don’t forget to check the food shelf in the dining room. We also get produce and other items donated from Willing Hands and Price Chopper!

About Sunrise Farm

Sunrise is a Vermont hill farm that has been producing food and fiber for more than two centuries. Hartford, Vermont, was chartered in 1763, and European-derived settlement began soon afterward. We don’t know when Sunrise was first cleared, but given its good soils and close proximity to the Connecticut and Ottauquechee Rivers, it would have been one of the first parts of the town to be occupied.
