Director’s Corner, May 2022

Well I certainly hope all those April showers will bring May flowers. They wouldn’t lie to us about that, right??

It is SO nice to see activities pick up, and to have more and more people coming back to the Center this spring. It really makes our days so much more fun to see people, chat, share stories, and say hi. We are keeping a very close eye on local conditions related to COVID-19. The situation is changing, so the best thing to do is keep a mask with you, and we’ll keep everyone posted if we recommend you wear them here. Most important, stay home if you’re feeling sick.

May is Older Americans Month and we’ve packed the calendar with tons of helpful events – along with some entertainment to celebrate older people in our lives. Themes for this month include planning ahead, access and accessibility, community engagement, and connecting with each other. Each week will include an event on this topic, we’ll be sharing resources about community partners who can help. The fun stuff includes a musician, a unique magician/comedian, and of course some special meals for Mothers Day and our Older Americans Dinner at the end of the month.

On Memorial Day, the Center will be closed as we mourn US military personnel who were lost while serving in the armed forces. Take the opportunity to rest, be with family and friends, remember and celebrate the lives of those who used to be with us, and think ahead to what summer has in store for us this year. Thank you all for being part of the Bugbee community!
