Happy New Year folks!!! All of us at Bugbee are wishing you a happy, healthy new year with much to look forward to. If you’re the type who makes new year’s resolutions, we hope you achieve those goals! One of my resolutions is to sneak a little less chocolate into the office…
You may notice that January’s activity calendar is a bit…lighter than usual. We’re responding to the situation at local hospitals, and are concerned about the contagiousness of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, on top of the current wave of Delta infections. Out of caution, we decided to roll back on in-person activities to help slow the spread, as a post-holiday surge is expected. Staff is getting tested every week and we’d encourage you to get tested frequently, if you can.
Some essential activities, including lunch, will continue the next few weeks with capacity limits based on how long people are together, the number of people, and the resulting risk of exposure. Everyone on staff wanted to make sure we were still here for you in some capacity, and as safely as possible. This year is so much different than last year thanks to the vaccines. We will reassess the situation in a few weeks to see how the hospitals are doing, and after more data comes in about Omicron. I am hoping by mid-January we can go back to normal.
In the meantime, we’d encourage everyone eligible to get your booster shots, hunker down as much as you can, and let’s thank our health care workers for being there during this difficult time. May 2022 bring joy, fun, new experiences, new friends, and lots of lunches at the senior center!!! Thank you for being a part of life here.
