Bugbee Senior Center

Can you believe it’s November? Bugbee has been so busy I’ve barely been noticing the days go by! October was full of fun here between the Oktoberfest night opening, the usual activities, and getting to see more and more people. And now it’s already time to start settling into the holiday season…I can’t wait for some turkey and stuffing 🙂

Speaking of food, this month we’ve got a special lunch planned for the Veterans in our community, that’s coming up on the 11th. Tuesday virtual presentations are coming from some great museums from all over the country—including the Elephant Sanctuary, that one’s always a good time. We also have a Mah Jongg group starting on Wednesdays. This is an Asian tile-based game similar to rummy, come learn how to play!

December 3 & 4 is the Bugbee Holiday Craft Fair—don’t miss it! This event will be very similar to the Bazaar in years past, but this year we are showcasing local crafters. There are some really talented crafters in the area, I’m excited to see what they’ll have to offer at the event. We’ll have food and music. It’s guaranteed to be a good time. Right now there are still a few spots for vendors, so if you or someone you know has a knack for crafting, send them our way!

It’s year-end fundraising season, and thank you to everyone who has responded to our appeal for support already! We are fortunate to have the backing of the community. Every bit helps—in fact most of our donors give less than $50 each year. That goes a long way—a $50 donation means two weeks of lunch for people who can’t afford it on their own. This year we have a new option: you can be a “sustaining supporter,” meaning you can spread your gift out over the year in automatic withdrawals. $5 a month—the suggested donation for ONE meal—adds up to $60 over the course of a year. If you can afford it, please consider this option. We are so grateful, and you’ll be helping support the amazing folks who benefit from all that’s on offer at Bugbee.

From all of us here, we’re wishing you a warm and peaceful November. I’ll see many of you soon for lunch, and in the meantime keep in touch. We really love hearing from all of you!
