Meals on Wheels staff and volunteers

March 2022 marks fifty years since Meals on Wheels, the nation’s premier nutrition program for seniors, was funded. And for Vermont’s aging population, it has become a lifeline for many of our neighbors. Just last month, Bugbee’s Meals on Wheels program delivered over 1,600 meals to people who could not get out of their house or prepare them on their own, and served an additional 368 meals in person at the Center.

We have the best volunteers! 30 drivers along with our three kitchen staff keep the program going every day, serving Hartford and surrounding towns. The program is based on nutritional needs, but there is also a social aspect of having a friendly face come to the door.

Funding for the nutrition program from the Older Americans Act covers less than half the cost of the program, with more than a third of revenue coming from contributions from the community. Your support helps seniors in need! Consider making a donation today! Or, if you are interested in volunteering, contact Susan, susan@bugbeecenter.org.

And, even better: come enjoy a meal!
